External cooperation with institutions of higher education

Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo (ETF) has external cooperation with other members of the University of Sarajevo, universities, scientific institutes and companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and also with several international partners.

 

The ETF Sarajevo has 12 officially signed technical and science cooperation agreements with partners such as: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo; Faculty of Engineering and Informational Technologies, International Burch University(B&H); Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb (Croatia); Power System Engineering Research Center, Cornell University, (USA); Malardalen University(Sweden), Global Center of Excellence (Global COE), Information, Electrical and Electronic Sciences, Graduate School Science and Technology, Keio University (Japan); Energoinvest dd (B&H); Institute for Physics (Zagreb - Croatia); Software Engineering Group, Humboldt University, (Berlin - Germany); etc. The ETF Sarajevo also cooperates with other universities without official agreement signed, like: University of Maribor – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Slovenia).

 

Beside the above listed bilateral cooperation and agreements, the ETF Sarajevo was and is actively taking part in many international joint projects like: TEMPUS, FP6, FP7, SEE‑ERA.net. Several professors and students participate in exchange programs like the Fulbright Scholar program, the Linneas Palme programme in Sweden, and the DAAD programme in Germany.


Industrial partnerships and cooperation agreements

Also, with several partners the ETF Sarajevo has officially signed business and technical cooperation agreements: BH Telecom (B&H); Electrical Utility Company of B&H (Elektroprivreda B&H); Energoinvest dd, B&H; Railway of Federation of B&H (Željeznice FBiH); Radio and Television of Federation of B&H (Radio televizija FBiH); Microsoft Corporation; Bosna-S Oil Service Company; University Džemal Bijedić – Faculty of Information Technologies, B&H; Mathematical Institute SANU, Belgrade, Serbia; Electrical Utility Company of HZHB, B&H (Elektroprivreda Hrvatske Zajednice Herceg Bosne); Schneider Electric; etc.

 

The ETF Sarajevo has a good co-operation as well with regional representatives of some of the leading international companies like Siemens, ABB, Oracle, Cisco and Hewlett Packard. Here are mentioned just some of the partners that have signed agreement about cooperation, but the ETF Sarajevo also cooperates with many others like: Hermes SoftLab BiH; Electrical Utility Company of Croatia; Croatian Forests Ltd; European Federation of National Maintenance Societies; etc.

 

The importance of practical work is widely recognised, and valuable in aptitude for a later inclusion in working force. That is why it is essential to provide students with possibility of visiting established companies and observing the working processes which show different aspects of exploiting the skills obtained during the course of study. Department of Electrical Power Engineering uses the agreements with companies such as Elektroprivreda BiH, Energoinvest, Elektroprivreda HZHB, etc. to organize visits and part of laboratory exercises within the equipped premises of the target companies. Department of Telecommunications uses the agreements with companies such as BH Telecom, Radio and Television of Federation of B&H, CRA, etc. to organize visits and part of laboratory exercises within the equipped premises of the target companies. Department of Automatic Control and Electronics uses the agreements with companies such as Elektroprivreda BiH, Energoinvest, Elektroprivreda HZHB, etc. to organize visits and part of laboratory exercises within the equipped premises of the target companies.

 

Adjunct lecturers from industry and institutes deliver courses that require specific professional expertise, and they serve as advisors and co-advisors for students preparing graduation thesis. Annual meeting of electrical engineering students from different countries (BiH, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Poland, Bulgaria, FYR of Macedonia, etc.) is also a kind of international cooperation where students, but also assistants and professors, can exchange their experiences, ideas and improve cooperation between Faculties.
